Invertebrate Invitational: The Earwig
Aloha Worm Ohana!
The videos coming up this week are the Invertebrate Invitational. This is my very favorite in-person class – a fun and exciting chance to meet our most interesting decomposers (other than the worms, of course!) up-close and personal.
We are featuring five invertebrates – professional decomposers all – that show up frequently in worm bins and compost piles. First up on the lineup is the Earwig, followed by the Millipede, Surinam Roach, Isopod, and Beetle Grub. While I can show up a few things online, NOTHING takes the place of exploring these critters on your own in person, so here’s the plan:
I’m assembling a BUG BOX for you to pick up at your school office with all five invertebrates, live and ready for you to gently handle and observe. You will also get a set of cool flashcards with interesting information about each bug.
The Bug Box will be available only from January 27th through February 5th.
To order your Bug Box, e-mail <mindy@waikikiworm.net> and tell me:
• Your name and school
• What day/date you want to pick up your Bug Box
Your invertebrates will be waiting for you at your school office on your pick-up day!
Enjoy the videos, and I hope to hear from you soon!
